LOVE SCENES FOR THE END OF THE WOLRD

By Isabella Waldron

Directed by Nell Bailey

Developed with Bath Theatre Academy at Theatre Royal Bath

The harrowing effects of climate change have become part of the daily discourse of this generation. Studies say we’ve got 10 years of life as we know it, and yet we carry on falling in love, fighting with our mothers, and otherwise negotiating the solitude of human existence.

Love Scenes explores how climate change affects our relationships and the way we interact with people we love. Does it make us want to push them away? Draw them closer? Enter into a final attempt at reckless adventure? This piece will explore the question: When the world is ending, is it worth building anything new?

DEVELOPMENT

Love Scenes was initially developed as a scratch performance for Golden Goose Theatre in March 2022, before going on to be presented as part of Pleasance Scratch in October 2022. The show is now being R&D-ed with Theatre Royal Bath and their Bath Theatre Academy in October 2023. The BTA R&D will allow us to extend the script, and dig into the issues and relationships most affected by the generation living in the lap of climate change.
