Who We Are

We are a small collective dedicated to making big work!

November Theatre is an interdisciplinary theatre company. We are excited by new voices, new forms, and new ways of building community on and off the stage. Queer-led, we launched NT in NYC in 2019 to work with creators in the UK and USA on fresh projects, supporting from early stage development through to production.

Since our conception, NT has staged a sold out production of Miriam Battye’s Pancake Day at The Tank NYC, a workshop of Andy Jo’s Hananim at Mabou Mines (NYC), and an online digital series hosted during COVID-19. After a sold out preview run at Pleasance (London) in February 2022, our first UK show, how to build a wax figure by Isabella Waldron, premiered at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022. PITCH was the winner of the Charlie Hartill award in 2023, going on to a critically acclaimed, offie-nominated run at Edinburgh Fringe. The show is now off on tour in May/June 2024.

Founded by emerging artists, November Theatre recognises the importance of providing a platform for those entering the theatre industry, especially in light of the 2020 pandemic. Consequently, we are committed to ensuring 40% of our cast/team are emerging artists, offering experience/training for professionals at the start of their career, no matter their age.

NT is led by Artistic Director, Nell Bailey. We work consistently with a number of associate artists, as well as bringing new talent onto every project.

ASSOCIATE ARTISTS

  • Sarah Verghese Productions

I'm an award-winning South Asian independent theatre producer working on London’s West End, on tour and internationally. I am excited by culturally and politically relevant work that engages new audiences and is widely accessible. My practice champions progress and access, while constantly questioning the ethics in performance making including the well-being and safety of the artists.

She is co-producing FOR BLACK BOYS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THE HUE GETS TOO HEAVY at Apollo Theatre and recently produced Queens of Sheba at Under the Radar Festival, in New York. I'm the Producer at Nouveau Riche and Community Producer at Zoo Co. Nouveau Riche is a multi-award-winning theatre company set out to create and nurture new thought-provoking, challenging, and culturally inclusive writing. Zoo Co is a theatre company and charity creating powerful, playful productions for audiences across the UK and worldwide. Zoo Co champions embedded access because theatre is better when everybody is invited! These principles are at the core of my independent work such as How to Build a Wax Figure at Pleasance 2022, Fester at Camden Fringe Festival 2021, and Every Sinner has a Future Kensington and Chelsea Festival & Golden Goose 2021.

I prioritise working with deaf, disabled, neurodiverse and global majority artists, these are two communities I identify with and feel are heavily under-represented in our industry.

  • ISABELLA WALDRON

I am an Oregon-born, London-based playwright/screenwriter with a passion for intergenerational, queer and women-led stories. My work explores themes of desire, the body and science often. I write magical realism and lyricism into character-driven, realistic settings. I believe in stories that hold tenderness at their heart as a radical act.

My play 'how to build a wax figure' was published with Methuen in 2021, originated at the Pleasance in Feb 2022 and premiered with Assembly at Edinburgh Fringe in 2022. Other work has been selected as a semi-finalist for the Bay Area Playwrights’ Foundation 2022, and the O’Neill National Playwrights Conference 2021. My writing has been commissioned for the Orleans Gallery’s Lines of Dissent, and featured with Golden Goose, Silver Lining Co., 24 Hour Plays, Theatre NOVA, Our Digital Stories, The WorkShop Theatre, the Portland Actors’ Conservatory, and as a San Francisco Chronicle Critic’s Choice.
